Situated alongside the noisy Luohu Checkpoint and the Shenzhen Railway Station, the 360o Bar, Restaurant and Lounge offers a tranquil getaway from the city's hustle and bustle with its cozy ambience, exciting Western cuisine with an Asian twist, and a rich selection of cocktails and wine.

If you go there this month, you'll be offered a special "salmon experience", which guarantees the highest-quality salmon cooked in a variety of styles.

The signature restaurant, situated on the 31st and 32nd floors of Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen, is completely circular. Designed to create different experiences within one space via various design elements, the trendy establishment is a bold contemporary mix of modern avant-garde furniture with an oriental touch. A huge glass wall encircling the restaurant offers a panoramic view of Hong Kong's New Territories and Shenzhen's skyline.

The complete salmon experience is a four-course dinner, starting with Tasmania twin salmon and trout tartare with royal condiments; salmon terrine with arugula, truffle vinaigrette and cherry tomato confit; or tempura king prawn with Norwegian salmon tartar sauce. Also worth trying are the kenzo sashimi platter with salmon roe and turnip puree, and the house smoked salmon with Hangzhou Longjing tea leaves.

For the soup, a good choice is the red crab bisque with ricotta and salmon dumplings. Two other choices are the king pumpkin soup with curried salmon bread sticks and the Roman tomato soup with sliced salmon and scallop pesto.

The main course features a flexible combination of salmon with a variety of seafood and meats. The salmon is very soft and rich, and balanced with other ingredients. You can also try the surf and turf Wagyu beef sirloin with abalone and salmon flakes and the slow cooked salmon fillet with mash potato and coriander pesto.

As a perfect end to the experience, the house-made vanilla ice cream topped with virgin olive oil and black and orange caviar is quite an innovation.

Wash the rich courses down with one of the "four seasons" cocktails, with ingredients and colors representing the characteristics of different seasons. Colorful and refreshing, these cater to different occasions and moods.

If you are not keen on salmon, you might like to try some of the restaurant's other renowned dishes, including the cappuccino of wild mushroom soup; pan-seared fois gras with apple compote and calvados sauce; ginger-and-herb-crusted lamb loin with gratinated potatoes; poached lobster tail in vermouth and carrot broth; and hot chocolate fudge cake with pistachio ice cream.
