From May 27, The Crowne Plaza Guangzhou City Centre, in cooperation with Mexico Consulate General in Guangzhou, will launch a three-week long Mexico Food Festival lasting until June 13.

Signature dishes like taco, guacamole salad, refried beans and enchiladas will be on display at the Fresh All Day Dining Restaurant. The hotel chef will also whip up an exciting array of Mexican dishes such as tamales, fajitas and rice pilaf. He is certain to impress the crowd with his profound knowledge of Mexican cuisine.

Signature dishes:

Taco is a traditional Mexican dish composed of a corn or wheat tortilla folded around a filling. A taco can be made with a variety of fillings, including beef, pork, chicken, seafood, vegetables and cheese. A taco is generally eaten without utensils and is often accompanied by garnishes such as salsa, avocado or guacamole, cilantro, tomatoes, onions and lettuce.

Guacamole is a dip traditionally made by mashing ripe avocados and sea salt. Some recipes call for tomato, onion, garlic, lemon juice, chili and/or additional seasonings.

Enchiladas is a corn tortilla rolled around a filling and covered with a chili pepper sauce. Enchiladas can be filled with a variety of ingredients, including meat, cheese, beans, potatoes, vegetables, seafood or combinations. Usually accompanied by refried beans and rice.

Quesadilla is a flour tortilla or a corn tortilla filled with a savoury mixture containing cheese, other ingredients, and/or vegetables.This dish originated in Mexico, and the name is derived from "tortilla" and the Spanish word for cheese "queso".

Tortilla Soup is primarily liquid food, generally served warm, that is made by combining ingredients such as chicken and vegetables with stock, tomato juice, water and the thing that make this dish different from other soups is the crispy tortilla, diced avocado and spicy chili.

Pico de Gallo is a fresh, uncooked salad made from chopped tomato, white onion, and chilis. Can be used in much the same way as other salsas, but since it contains less liquid, it can also be used as a main ingredient in dishes such as tacos and fajitas.In Mexico it is sometimes called “Mexican sauce” because the colors of the red tomato, white onion, green chili are reminiscent of the colors of the Mexican flag.

Pico de Gallo

Arroz con leche is a dessert boiled or baked made from rice mixed with milk, cinnamon and raisins. Is the Spanish version of rice pudding.
