More than 80 ceramic paintings by 12 prominent contemporary artists from Jingdezhen, the home of fine porcelain in Jiangxi Province, are on exhibition at Guan Shanyue Art Museum through May 27.

The works are a diverse set of original creations. Artists Gong Xunming, Xiong Yahui, Li Quan and Han Zifeng are presenting a number of works based on their visits to Tibet. Though they all depict the lives of Tibetans, they interpret the people and their lives differently in their works.

Themed “Tracing the Origin,” the exhibition showcases the artists’ pursuit of the human concern for nature and society through the language of art. The artists also demonstrate exquisite artisanship through innovative art techniques such as polychrome painting, famille-rose painting skills and graphical modeling with high temperature colored glaze.

Different from paintings on paper or fabric, ceramic paintings have a unique beauty from the glazed enamel, which often gives the pictures a stereoscopic effect.

Hours: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Venue: Guan Shanyue Art Museum, 6026 Hongli Road, Futian District
