Where to go in "May Day" holiday? Without a long journey, you can enjoy the cultural relics, taste red wine and western food in the central city. The reporter learned from Liwan District on April 26 that 2011 Guangzhou (Shamian) Western Food Cultural Festival will be held on Guangzhou Shamian Island from April 29 to May 3. The nine activities such as red wine tasting, western food and dessert creative exhibition and European style performance, will be put on the stage to enable the domestic and overseas visitors to have a wonderful time in the five days.

 
 
Shamian Island

The western food culture of Guangzhou originated in Shamian. There are over 150 existing exotic buildings in Shamian, 53 of which are important heritage sites under state protection, covering the consulate, the customs agency and the overseas Chinese affairs office; The existing five-star hotel is the White Swan Hotel and the four-star hotel is the Guangdong Victory Hotel. There are 15 exotic and characteristic catering enterprises here, such as Shamian Hotel, Overseas Chinese Gourmet, Lan Kwai Fong, Starbucks, Tai Zhen Cow and Bridge and Station West Food Bar, etc.

Liwan District will integrate the cultural resource concerning western food of the whole city for the first time in 2011 and hold the Western Food Cultural Festival on the European-style Shamian Island, with different and exotic performances arranged every day, to enable the domestic and overseas visitors to have a wonderful time in the five days. It is expected that the number of visitors participating in the Western Food Cultural Festival will exceed 300 thousand person times.
