To celebrate the harvest of rice in Luoding, the 7th Rice Festival as well as the 1st Guangdong Rice Industry Development Conference kicked off at the City Municipal Square last week.Luoding, located in the west of Guangdong province, is famous for agriculture. The Rice Festival offers visitors various ways to experience Luoding.
A farmers’ market was held at the City Municipal Square in celebration, with local farmers introducing various rice and traditional crops to visitors, including local mushrooms, sweet potatoes，rice-made products and fruits.
At Luoding Airport, participants enjoyed a spectacular skydiving performance given by the Yingfei Skydiving club in Luoding. Yingfei Skydiving is the only professional parachute base in China that has been certified by the USPA (United States Parachute Association) for single-person parachuting. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of the countryside from more than 4,000 meters in the air.
The launch ceremony for the city’s second self-drive tour was held at Luoding airport on the same day. As for the Self-drive tour, the tour allows visitors to get a new perspective on Luoding’s famous landscape.
Pingtang, a small town located in Luoding. is famous for its rice fields. In 2014, it was rated as “the most beautiful pastoral region in China” by the Ministry of Agriculture. Tourists are encouraged to take the trails through the rice fields to garner a deeper appreciation of the long rich history of traditional rice farming.
In recent years, Luoding has promoted the development of tourism across the whole region with the focus on rural tourism, and introduced a series of measures to further accelerate its development. Luoding's rural scenery, golden paddyfields and skydiving attract many families from around the world to visit every year.
