Overseas Chinese in Kuwait on Friday celebrated the Spring Festival, or the Chinese Lunar New Year, in the capital Kuwait City.
At the annual event which attracted a large audience from local Chinese communities, actors performed Chinese songs and dances.
Cheng Yongru, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy to Kuwait, said the China-Kuwait relations witnessed all-around and in-depth development in 2017, as the two sides vowed to further promote cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, which benefits both peoples.
"I hope that in 2018 Chinese citizens living in Kuwait would make concerted efforts to contribute to the development of relations between China and Kuwait," he said.
Stressing the cooperation potentials under the Belt and Road Initiative, Zhang Yongda, a Chinese entrepreneur in Kuwait, expressed hope that overseas Chinese in Kuwait, especially Chinese businessmen, could make greater contribution to the friendship between China and Kuwait.
Dong Taikang, the representative from a local Chinese community, said cooperation between China and Kuwait bring tangible benefits to the vast number of overseas Chinese in Kuwait.
"I hope in 2018 cooperation between China and Kuwait under the Belt and Road Initiative could inject fresh momentum into the relations between China and Kuwait," he said.
