‘Integrating different elements such as new technology, daily life object, unexpected material is part of my art making.’

There were three stops for this event & tour exhibition. In this event, Alvin Xiong(熊炜) mentioned: One of the most interesting and challenged projects I’ve done is to find the intersection point between Contemporary Art and TESLA.

‘Crossover’ is not a new word, but how to integrate different elements to form a whole?

As a contemporary artist, Alvin is good at using an artist perspective to find out the intersection point between different fields. He extends and expends the common point to become a crossover project. How to integrate different elements to form a whole? The answer we can see is ‘Contemporary Art Meets TESLA’ and his ‘Fusion’ solo tour exhibition by using the divergent thinking.

The intersection or the common point between Tesla and Alvin Xiong’s contemporary art: conception

Many people may not fully accept or understand the contemporary art forms, but the ideas from contemporary art is promoting art and human thought. Also, electric vehicle currently may not be accepted by all people, but it is the arrival of the era is an irreversible trend.

TESLA represents a kind of ideological liberation, not limited to divergent thinking, the integration of different elements into which to create a new industry and become the standard.

One of the major features of Alvin's work is that it can be perfect integrating in different kinds of materials and medium that you do not expect and imagine before.

‘Fusion’ Solo Tour Exhibition

Alvin Xiong is an artist who can integrate not only material but also various elements from different fields.

Alvin not only has a strong academy realistic painting training background in China but he also has spent many years in contemporary art practice. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree major in oil painting at Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts which is the top fine art institute in Southern China, he also got his Master of Find Arts degree at Elam School of Fine Arts in New Zealand.

There is not many artists like Alvin can do well naturally between traditional and contemporary art. In his artwork, the audience can see the integrating between traditional art and contemporary art, eastern art philosophy and western art philosophy.

In recent years, especially in China at this moment, more and more attention has been paid to his artworks, and his artwork makes people think about the inclusiveness and extensibility of contemporary art.

In this ‘Fusion’ Solo Tour Exhibition, Alvin uses light as his paint, using optical imaging equipment as his art brush to explore the boundary of painting material, and extending the possibility about ‘painting’ in his way.

Art is life, life is an art

Alvin’s work is not only a view of contemporary art, but also has the practical value that can relate to people’s daily life. In his artistic creation, everything appears in the works has its own meaning and readability, from whole to parts .

He thinks in philosophy and he also has the certain pursuit in his art making. He is also willing to help the audience to understand his artwork, and also give some guidance to let people to understand other contemporary works as well.

The cross-boundary thinking of Contemporary Art

TESLA since its birth, carrying the contemporary art of cross-border thinking elements of the gene, TESLA’s car is not only a vehicle but also a fusion of elements of artwork.

For Alvin, the crossover thinking of contemporary art brings great influence and inspiration to the many industries that need transformation and change in today's society.

As Alvin said ‘In fact, one of the innovation thinking and creation concept in contemporary art is cross-border thinking – how to use divergent thinking to implement a powerful and creative idea, how to expand its owned resources, how to integrate the different areas to develop new projects.’
