Belgian teacher: delish Cantonese cuisines tempt me to visit Guangzhou

It was in the classroom of Hotel School Hasselt in Limburg Province, Belgium, on October 20. Cantonese cuisines brought by teachers from Guangdong Tourism Institute ignited local people’s passion for Lingnan food culture.

Cut the fresh and tender beef into slices, set aside to marinate for a few minutes, add the beef slices into the heating pan......Before everybody could note down the procedures, the robust flavor of the Cantonese meal “beef in oyster sauce” had already penetrated the room, even everybody’s nose.

吃糖醋排骨可以不吐骨头,用27道食材“伺候”出一道香滑鲜嫩的牛肉,师生七嘴八舌讨论粤菜的“五滋六味”,亲手烹制几道广东菜,瞬间吃光光……

10月20日,比利时林堡省哈瑟尔特酒店管理学校的烹饪实操室热闹无比,广东省旅游学校的老师们把粤菜文化送上了他们的讲台。

“Yummy! Yummy!” Guided by Li Binhai, a great cook of China, Belgian students tried to make Cantonese cuisines by themselves and shared them with their teachers and classmates.

在200分钟的课程里,丰富的食材融入浓郁的岭南风情,精湛的厨艺造就了东方的色香美,广东名厨匠心独运,传授粤式厨艺,激起了人们强烈的兴趣。

Master Li also taught some cooking methods to Belgian students, such as sautéed sweet and sour pork tenderloin, sautéed Shrimp with Cashew Nuts and sweet and sour pork.

广东旅校教师、中国烹饪大师李斌海“手把手”教学,指导林堡省哈瑟尔特酒店管理学校的师生调弄食材,传授关键技法,演示烹制程序,把几道历史悠久的广东名菜“咕噜肉”、“腰果炒虾仁”、“蚝油牛肉”的烹制法教给学生。

“How scrummy!” Having finished his first cook at Cantonese meal, Eve Beckers, a teacher from Limburg province, exclaimed, “We’ve learned a lot. Now I really want to visit Guangzhou. I'd like to teach western meals to Chinese people. ”

几十种材料在学员的手中成形、传香,粤菜的诞生过程让学员和观众们惊奇万分,他们在中国老师的指导下,按照标准配料、调料、制作,完成一道菜,迫不及待地和同学老师们把自己的作品吃得精光,被异国的美味吸引住,不停说:“好吃好吃。”

“Am I teaching French cuisines or Italian cuisines?” He added.

林堡省的教师Eve Beckers全程听课、操作,“我们学到很多东西,中国老师的知识很丰富,我想去广州,我想教中国人做西餐。”Eve Beckers俏皮地问:“我教法国菜好呢,还是教意大利菜好呢?”

Mr. Jean-Paul Peuskens, Vice Governor of Limburg, attended the course and spoke highly of students’ meals. “It is a successful activity. I look forward to more cooperation between the schools.”

林堡省主管教育副省长庄珀•普斯肯斯现场观摩,品尝孩子们的作品,他说:“从校长、老师、学生的反映看,这次交流非常好,期待两所学校能有更多的合作项目。”

Dong Biao, the headmaster of Guangdong Tourism Institute, indicated “We hope that we can build a bridge for mutual understanding and learning through the cooperation.”

广东省旅游学校董家彪校长表示:“希望能通过开展旅游教育合作,搭建一道互相了解、互相学习的桥梁。”

Last year, as Limburg and Guangdong established a sister-province relationship, Mr. Jean-Paul Peuskens led a delegation to visit Guangdong Tourism Institute, proposing suggestions on enhancing educational exchanges.

“去年,林堡省和广东省建立友好省关系,副省长庄珀•普斯肯斯调研广东省旅游学校,提出合作意向,哈瑟尔特酒店管理学校邀请学校到林堡省交流,我们带来了200分钟的粤菜烹饪课,这是我们交流项目的‘干货’之一。”

It is learned that the Hotel School Hasselt is planning to open a course on western food in Guangdong Tourism Institute in the end of this year.

“去年,林堡省和广东省建立友好省关系,副省长庄珀•普斯肯斯调研广东省旅游学校,提出合作意向,哈瑟尔特酒店管理学校邀请学校到林堡省交流,我们带来了200分钟的粤菜烹饪课,这是我们交流项目的‘干货’之一。”
