This is also the first oil painting exhibition co-hosted by the Mission of China to ASEAN and ASEAN Secretariat at the headquarters of ASEAN, which has extremely important historical and cultural significances.

Relations between China and ASEAN countries have a long history. Indonesia is an important stop of the Maritime Silk Road. In the beginning of the 15th century, Chinese mariner and explorer Zheng He conducted seven voyages to the eastern Pacific and Indian Oceans. He went to Sumatra, Java and Kalimantan in Indonesia and made great contribution to the development of commerce and trade between China and Indonesia.
