Zhongshan is rich in tourism resources: its beautiful water country scenery, vast rice paddies with innumerous water channels, well known historic sites, and KMT's (the Nationalists') legacies. In recent years, Zhongshan City has been developing amazingly fast with booming township enterprises, urban construction and tourism.

Zhongshan has been awarded many times with several honorable titles: Zhongshan and Nanhai cities are conferred with the honorable title of National Model City of Environmental Protection, National Garden City, National Sanitary City and National Advanced Civilized City.  1) As the hometown of Dr Sun Yat-sen, there are a lot of historic attractions concerning with Sun Yat-sen's legacy, such as:

Zhongshan is always associated with Dr Sun Yat-sen, who is the founder of the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT). He led the Xinhai (1911) Revolution against the feudalist society and succeeded in overthrowing the Qing Dynasty in 1911, setting up the first republic society in Asia. For this, he is regarded as the father of modern China. He was born in Cuiheng Village, Nanlang Township. Sun grew up here with his parents and family members. He received his most education abroad as a doctor when he was young. But he turned out a revolutionary of democracy, leading China in fighting against feudalism and leaving behind rich legacies. He will be always remembered at the bottoms of the hearts of all Chinese people, both at home and abroad.

In memory of Dr Sun Yat-set, Cuiheng Village has been restored, according to the original look of his time. Visitors can get a quick glimpse of the lifestyle, folk customs and social practices in Zhongshan at the turning point of the late Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China. The past traditions are very much in evidence. There are lots of Sun Yat-sen's legacies, his childhood, his family, his early education, his followers, his revolutionary ideas and practice, and his democratic influence over China as the father of modern China. Sun's teaching is widely spread wherever there are Chinese in the world, and his handwriting of "To Serve the World as a Whole" can been seen on the pailous, the Chinese gateways, in New York, Chicago, Washington, San Francisco and Los Angles, London or Paris. He advocates a government of the people, for the people's rights and for the people's survival. He is the man of moral nobility, with a far-sighted vision and inspiring spirit as a leader of a nation like China.

The Attractions mentioned above are the best in Zhongshan City. Visitors can simply walk along the Qijiang River to enjoy the bustling urban business, local snack bars on the sidewalks, buildings in Western style or featured with a typical Lingnan look.
