Shenzhen's top water official will lead 100 citizens to inspect the Dongjiang River project Saturday (Oct. 30).
The inspection, sponsored by the Shenzhen water bureau and the Shenzhen Evening News, was aimed at increasing public understanding of the city's most important water source.
Participants will witness the entire process of Dongjiang River water flowing to Shenzhen including how it is pumped and how it enters the Xili Reservoir.
Head of the city's water bureau Huang Tianyuan will serve as a guide for the tour and answer questions about the city's water problems.
People who want to apply for the tour can call 8351-9936 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The 136-kilometer Dongjiang project was completed in December 2001 at a cost of about 3.8 billion yuan (US$463 million). It is regarded as a lifeline for Shenzhen.
