Shenzhen mayor Li Hongzhong, together with other National People's Congress deputies from the city, returned to Shenzhen on Monday (Mar. 15) after finishing all processes of the conference in Beijing.
"After the congress, we have more confidence in doing a good job in Shenzhen," Li said when being interviewed Monday.
Mayor Li said two hot issues were of great concern for all deputies and society as a whole. The first was the new perspective of development and the second was Constitutional amendments.
"Under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee, all the processes of Constitutional amendments (including drafting, submitting for deliberation and final approval) have fully shown our democracy," Li said.
Mayor Li said he had an especially deep understanding of the new perspective of development.
"The Eighth Plenary Session of the Third Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC was actually a conference aimed at carrying out the new perspective of development, which means that our work focus in Shenzhen is in full accordance with the Central Government's main thread," Li said.
Li also revealed that during the congress, he and other deputies from Guangdong Province submitted a motion to expand the boundaries of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone (SEZ) by incorporating Longgang and Bao'an districts into the SEZ.
