Shenzhen Special Economy Zone, established in 1980, is the earliest and second largest (next to Hannan province) special economy zone. It takes Shenzhen only 20-odd years to upgrade itself from the previous seaside fishing village into a modern cosmopolitan with highest per capita income level in China.
