To help flood affected regions resume production, a batch consisting of 300,000 fry or baby fish were released into ponds in Shaoguan's Lechang yesterday (Aug 24).
These baby fish are the first donation of their kind in Guangdong Province since this year's typhoon attack. The fish are expected to be ready to hit the market during the next Chinese New Year.
Guangdong oceanic and fishery bureau will also organize five more similar events next week. One of the beneficiaries, Raoping County, where aquiculture was severely hit, will receive 50 million baby shrimp and 100,000 fry.
