Huizhou to host rally championship
Latest Updated by 2004-10-14 09:36:07

The fifth stage of Asian Pacific Rally Championship - the TCL China Rally - will be held on October 23 and 24 in Huizhou, in southern Guangdong Province.

It will also be the fifth and last stage of China National Rally Championship, featuring the world's top drivers and support staff and with about 20 racing teams taking part.

Of them, Subaru team, MRF, Ke Shou Ting Rally team and Shanghai Volkswagen 333 are the main title contenders.

As one of the premier regional championship in World Rallying, the tournament attracts a large number of world top level rally drivers, huge television audiences all over the world and hundreds of thousands of spectators.

With another 5 stages held in Australia, New Zealand, Scotland, Japan and India, the championship covers one third of world's population, which is about 2.72 billion.

Six events in six different countries, each with its unique cultural and rallying characteristics. The events range from the open forestry roads of Australia to the fast-flowing, public roads of New Zealand, each with its own flavour.

This time in China, the competition road runs 220.85 kilometres, featuring seven routes and 13 legs. About 60 racing cars will compete in an area, surrounded by mountains with beautiful sceneries.

The manufacturer and driver involvement continues to remain strong with vehicles from Subaru, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Proton, Suzuki and Volkswagen Polo.

The championship uses the same competition structure and format as the FIA World Rally Championship and with the wide range of categories and awards, the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship provides an excellent opportunity for manufacturers and competitors to promote their vehicles ability and their own driving skills.

The China stage is organized by China Auto Sports Confederation, Huizhou Municipal Government and TCL Company.
