On the afternoon of April 26, the New Zealand Consulate General in Guangzhou was opened. The opening ceremony was attended by Tang Bingquan, Executive Vice-Governor of Guangdong province, Annette King, New Zealand's Minister of State Services, Minister of Police, Minister of Transport and Minister for Food Safety, Anthony Patrick F. Browne, the New Zealand Ambassador to China, and Alan Young, New Zealand consul-general in Guangzhou.
Annette King revealed that New Zealand is currently in consultation with China Southern Airlines for the inauguration of direct flights between Guangzhou & New Zealand.
In addition, the "New Zealand New Thinking" exhibition is being held at the fifth floor, Grandview Plaza (Zhengjia Plaza) from April 27 to May 6. Citizens will be able to enjoy the excellent performances supplied by the Maori people and a New Zealand percussion band.
