Environmental protection Mark to be granted to vehicles meeting emission standard
Latest Updated by 2007-01-05 15:45:32

It has been learned from the Guangzhou Environmental Protection Bureau that starting January 2007, the Bureau will grant an environmental protection mark to motor vehicles that meet the Chinese Phase III Emission Standard. All of the registered vehicles that meet the Standard are covered, including light and heavy vehicles.

Other motor vehicles will also be granted the mark in the future. The mark is valid for 2 years, affixing to the inside of right corner of the front windshield, without affecting the drivers' sight line.

The main person in charge of the Guangzhou Environmental Protection Bureau has said that the announcement to be implemented the next day would be valid for 5 years. The first grant of environmental protection mark needs no emission test, and no fees will be charged. However, when it expires, the motor vehicles shall carry out an emission test, and the environmental protection mark will be renewed if the test proves the vehicle to be eligible.
