A recent survey shows that only 39% of the youngsters in Guangzhou, capital city of Guangdong Province, are satisfied with their current job, 3% drops from the 1995 statistics.

The survey, conducted by Guangzhou Municipal (Guangzhou, Hong Kong & Macau) Youngsters Research Institute, involves 500 Guangzhou young citizen aging from 18 to 35, whose professions ranging from civil servant, professional technician, company manager, student, worker, general office clerk to self-employed laborer.
The first three satisfied job to youngsters made to be "Applying school knowledge to beneficial practice", "Being a capable element to the society", "After one's own hearts", whereas "Low payments" shown to be the most important factor to the unsatisfactory jobs, according to the survey.
Further analysis indicates that profession, to some extent, relates to youngsters' satisfactions degree, civil servants are mostly satisfied with their jobs. Researchers also found that women have a higher satisfactory degree than men.
Youngsters today think a lot about applying things they have learned into the work they are engaged, while they paid more attention to jobs that could be after their own hearts 9 years ago.
Survey also releases that the percentage of youngsters whose satisfactions brought about by "well paid" is 3% lower, whereas those bearing mentality "having a job useful to the society" climb 4%, indicating that self-achievement rather than creature comfort brings more satisfaction to young people nowadays.
Another statistics shows that though most Guangzhou youngsters are not quite satisfied with their current jobs, they do not change their jobs too often.

Some 10% of them, however, have a second occupation, saying that "to increase income" is the main reason for that.
