Dongguan, currently have 2,050,000 fix lines, is to have 7 to 8-digit telephone number change to meet the increasing market demand, and the project will be finished by the end of next year.
This is revealed in 'Dongguan 2004-2010 plan: informationalization of national economic and social development' released on Oct 9th.
Source says Dongguan has been the 3rd telecommunication-service-consuming municipality in the province next to Guangzhou and Shenzhen for many years.
The planning does not mention about where the one extra digit will be inserted.
