It is one of the first 15 export processing zones approved by the State Council. Located in the East District of Guangzhou Economic and Technology Development Zone, it has a planed area of 3.05 km.

Functions of the Export Processing Zone: Special closed-loop area with round-the-clock Customs supervision to the goods entering and exiting the zone and relevant sites in the zone.

The following enterprises can be set up in the Zone: Export processing enterprises, enterprises providing warehousing services to the export processing enterprises, and transportation enterprises approved by the Customs providing services of entry and exit of goods in the zone.

Superior traffic conditions: Guangzhou and Shenzhen Expressway and Guangzhou and Shenzhen Highway run along north and south respectively of the zone, Guangzhou-Kowloon railway is adjacent to the zone. The future Guangzhou-Kowloon railway cargo station will be set up near the zone. The main roads in the zone are connected with Huangpu New Port, which is convenient for trans-Customs transportation of supervised goods. It also enjoys the infrastructure facilities and can capitalize on the industrial resources of Guangzhou Economic and Technology Development Zone.
