Crude prices rebounded Tuesday on tightening product supplies and expectations of continued strong energy demand.
The U.S. Department of Energy said Tuesday that energy demand would remain strong through the summer.
It expected average spot Henry Hub natural gas prices over the summer season to be 18 percent above year-earlier levels, as "concerns about extreme weather conditions and rising prices in the oil market" keep upward pressure on prices.
Light, sweet crude oil for May delivery was up 38 cents at 61. 89 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
The contract had slumped 2.77 dollars, or 4.3 percent, to 61.51 dollars a barrel on Monday.
