1. Import & Export Survey
In 2006, China's luggage and case trade volume reached 8.938 billion USD, a 19.58% increase over the previous year. Leather luggage and case trade volume realized 1.339 billion USD, up 27.70% year on year, which accounted for 14.98% of the total trade volume. Trade volume of Plastic Stripe luggage and case hit 7.273 billion USD with a 18.40% increase over the year 2005, and netted 81.37% of the total trade volume. Luggage and case made of other materials occupied 3.64% of the total volume for 326 million USD, up 14.97% over last year.
In 2006, China's luggage and case imports realized 235 million USD, a 43.85% increase over the previous year, while China's luggage and case exports reached 8.703 billion USD, up 19.03% from a year ago. China's luggage and case enjoyed a trade surplus of 8.468 billion USD.
2. Imports:
In 2006, China's luggage and case import volume achieved 235 million USD, a 43.85% increase over the previous year, which were 23.85 and 24.96 percentage points higher than that of the national and light industrial product & arts-craft respectively in the year 2005. Leather luggage and case import volume reached 67.5626 million USD, a 45.47% increase over the previous year, and accounted for 28.76% of the total import volume. Plastic stripe luggage and case import volume achieved 154.2459 million USD, and went up by 43.71%, which took up 65.66% of the total import volume of the year 2005. Cases and luggages made of other materials increased by 37.55% in import volume, which netted 13.1038 million USD, accounting for 5.58% of the total import volume.
3. Exports:
In 2006, China's luggage and case export volume achieved 8.703 billion USD, a 19.03 % increase over the previous year, Leather luggage and case export volume reached 1.272 billion USD, a 26.87% increase over that same year, and accounted for 14.61% of the total export volume. Plastic stripe luggage and case export volume achieved 7.119 billion USD, increased by 17.95%, and took up 81.80% of the total export volume of the year 2005. Cases and luggages made of other materials went up by 3.59% in export volume, which was 313 million USD, accounting for 3.59% of the total export volume.
In 2006, luggage and case export accounted for 3.54% of the total light industrial product and art-craft export volume. Its export-increasing rate was 8.17 and 0.44 percentage points lower than that of the national and light industrial product & art-craft respectively.
