House prices in May rose by 5.8 percent from last year and 0.2 percent from April in China's 70 big and medium-sized cities, according to a report released by the National Development and Reform Commission and National Bureau of Statistics.
The report shows the sales price of newly-built commodity houses rose by 6.1 percent year on year, with a month-on-month decline of 0.3 percent.
The sales prices of economy and luxury houses respectively rose by 4.8 and 6.9 percent compared with the same period of last year, with respective declines of 1 and 1.1 percent from April, while that of common house rose by 5.7 percent year on year and 0.2 percent month on month.
Among 70 cities, house prices in Dalian, Shenzhen, Hohhot, Fuzhou and Beijing increased by 15.2, 13.7, 11.4, 10.3 and 9.0 percent respectively from last year and those of Shanghai and Jinzhou respectively drop by 6.2 and 0.8 percent year on year.
According to the report, house prices of previously-owned and non-residential commodity houses rose respectively by 6.7 and 4.4 percent.
