Analysys International, a leading Internet based provider of business information about technology, media and telecom (TMT) industries in China, says 440,000 users will be using 3G mobile terminals in China by the end of 2006 and the number will reach 78.08 million by the year 2008.
According to the report "China Mobile Terminal and Channel Research Report 2005-2006," recently released by Analysys International, 3G mobile telecommunication licenses will be issued in China in the second half of this year, when operators will begin 3G network construction and purchase of 3G terminals.
3G mobile communication services will be provided in China in the first half of 2007. Mature 3G commercial applications will start in the second half of 2007.
Analysys International says half of the new added mobile telecommunication subscribers will be 3G users by 2008 and 3G subscribers will account for 13.7 percent of the total mobile telecommunication subscribers in China by then.
International vendors of mobile terminals have spent a great deal on R&D and have begun to provide mature 3G terminals. Analysys International says at the initiation stage of China's 3G industry, international brands will occupy the dominant position in the 3G terminal market.
This subject is further discussed in Analysys International's research report "China Mobile Terminal and Channel Research Report 2005-2006."
