The 101st Canton Fair will be held in Guangzhou this April starting on the 15th. Effective this session, the Canton Fair has been officially renamed the 'China Import and Export Fair'. In accordance with its new name, an international pavilion for imports will be set up at the Fair for the first time.
According to the China Foreign Trade Centre, the International Pavilion has begun to take attendance applications from domestic buyers. For the International Pavilion, invitation cards for attendance have been sent to the domestic trade delegations. There are 3 types of passes for application: the free pass for buyers, the paid pass for buyers and the paid pass for buyers' representatives. Domestic exhibitors are not allowed to apply as domestic buyers. The requirement for successful application for corporations in the Eastern China regions is a 1 million US dollars' import value or above in the last year. For corporations in the Central & Western China regions, the requirement is lowered to 0.5 million US dollars. For non-corporation organizations, they must have a buying budget for imported products in the coming two years.
