An anti-terrorism equipment fair will be held in Shenzhen from June 15 to 17, the municipal public security bureau announced.
The fair will exhibit anti-terrorism facilities including helicopters, patrol vehicles, and bulletproof vehicles, city emergency response products such as the 110 headquarters control system, and criminal investigation technology, among other things.
Experts on anti-terrorism and enterprises producing anti-terrorist products are expected to attend the fair.
Shenzhen has been listed as one of 21 cities in China selected as model cities to strengthen the police force with the latest techonology. The municipal government will invest 220 million yuan (US$26.5 million) this year on the program, most of which will be spent on anti-terror equipment, information and network security and crime detection facilities.
Besides equipment renewal, the program will also include a mechanism for the re-construction of the police force. As part of the program, a military training center will be set up in Futian District next year. The training center is to prepare police to tackle terrorism, and serious crime, said Zhu Jiefeng, deputy director-general of the Shenzhen public security bureau.
