The Guangzhou Fair (2003) opened at the new Guanghzou International Exhibition Center Thursday (September 25th).
The fair had been postponed from its original date in July because of the SARS outbreak earlier this year (2003).
The annual event changed its venue from the China Export Commodities Center to the new International Exhibition Center for the first time this year. The new center has an area of 40,000 square meters,
More than 1,500 enterprises with 8,000 products attended the fair, including 148 companies from Taiwan and others from South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Australia and Macao SAR.
The fair's exhibition area is divided into four parts, displaying products made in Guangzhou, overseas, other provinces and Chinese private enterprises.
Apart from inviting well-known domestic economists to a forum on the development of Chinese private enterprises, the fair also attracted more than 20 government delegations and 200 purchasers from home and abroad.
An exchange fair between Guangdong and Taiwan will be a highlight of the fair, with more than 200 delegates from Taiwan attending.
