For the cooperation between GD and HK, some experts say that both sides should identify their own roles from a long-term perspective.
Hong Kong's status as an international commercial, financial and services center will not change, nor will its leading status in the Greater PRD. As Zhang Hanlin, dean of the WTO Research Institute in Foreign Trade University of China, says, there are many ways for HK to develop its regional economy, but the best one is to involve itself in building a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Economic Zone.
There are also some breakthroughs on strengthening the service cooperation between the two regions in this Guangdong-Hong Kong cooperation joint conference. It is said that some mid and small-size retail enterprises have already begun to prepare actively for entering the PRD market.
The signing of the CEPA and the further cooperation between Guangdong and Hong Kong will bring along the second wave of Hong Kong companies'investment into Guangdong, and will promote the internationalization level of Guangdong's services, as well as will perfect its service-providing systems.
